New Subject - Ecological Theology (THL211)

  • St Francis College 233 Milton Rd Brisbane Australia (map)

This summer, St Francis College will offer a new subject, Ecological Theology. Students in the subject will read texts by leading ecotheologians and reflect on Christian discipleship in relation to the challenges presented by climate change. Christian understandings of creation and salvation throughout history have for the most part been “anthropocentric” (human-centred), with other-than-human aspects of creation serving as props and background settings to the drama of God’s relation to creation. This subject will seek the possibility of a Christian theology that allows God’s and our relation to all of creation to be given theological and spiritual importance.

This subject will be offered as a series of intensive days: Mondays 16, 23, 30 November 2020 and Mondays 11, 18 January 2021

The subject will be available as an elective within the Bachelor of Theology, or as a Single Subject Study option. Auditing is available, but there will be minimal spaces. For more information on the subject, please contact Peter Kline (pkline@ministryeducation.org.au).
