At our recent staff retreat we were each given beautiful holding or prayer crosses.
Fr Terry Booth kindly carved these tactile tangible icons of the life, passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
The poignant words on the accompanying card read:
“This cross and the ones your colleagues have received have a common origin, a discarded silky oak door post.
My prayer is that this connectedness will be present in your ministry together.
These crosses are a tangible reminder of the grace of God.
They are made from a rescued, reclaimed, recycled and salvaged pieces of wood. The throw away bits.
Like us, they have been rescued, repurposed and reshaped into a saving icon of God’s love. Sometimes just holding them is prayer enough for our souls.”
Thank you, Terry, for such a memorable gift and its beautiful message.
