Letter from the Principal

Dear Readers,
The jacarandas at St Francis College have been putting on a beautiful display for the last couple of weeks. I have lived most of my life in Adelaide and there they tend to come into flower at the end of November or early December, thereby providing appropriate Advent colour. Here in Queensland, I hear that the Jacaranda purple is associated with exam time. We are indeed now coming to the end of semester and due dates for final assessments. At the end of exam week you are warmly invited to attend our End of Year Thanksgiving Service on Sunday 17 November (please register with the link below). As this is one of only a couple of times a year that we gather as the whole St Francis College community, Bishop John Roundhill will commission Adam Couchman as our Academic Dean and Linda Burridge as our Registrar during the Eucharist. We are delighted to welcome musicians from North Pine Anglican Church to lead our singing as we gather for worship and give thanks, farewelling students who are completing students and celebrating achievements of the year.
Enrolments for University of Divinity courses in 2025 open on 1 November, and in addition to the existing courses we will be offering a Graduate Diploma in Pastoral and Spiritual Care, which is ideal for those exploring chaplaincy positions. A number of schoolteachers and leaders have found the Graduate Certificate in Divinity a great way to resource teaching Religious (and Values) Education and also gain understanding of the Anglican context of the schools. Although there has been a restructure, the University of Divinity will continue to offer Graduate Certificate in Professional Supervision (now hosted by Whitley College) and a Graduate Certificate of Leadership (now hosted by Uniting College for Leadership and Theology). All these Graduate Certificate courses are great. For those interested in further study there are a number of PhD fee scholarships available this year, the UD VOX – News, Articles and Events from the University of Divinity community site lists those offered by the School of Graduate Research and Trinity College and the Ivor Church Bursary will also be available for this purpose. The Spiritual Direction Formation Program is planned for 2025. Please contact the Director, Dale Keenan or Program Officer, Wendy Dann for more information.
On 9 November there is an Ichthus Camp Vision Day to explore the future of Ichthus Camps within the focus of Anglican Youth Children and Family Ministry. Please contact the Director of AYCF, Elissa Cotroneo if interested in attending this discussion. Currently the FormEdFaith team of Jonathan Sargeant and Fiona Hammond are filming a new resource, but they are never too busy to book in workshops in parishes for 2025. It is possible to enrol in their other courses including the Certificate in Anglican Theology and Praxis at any time. The Roscoe Library is a wonderful resource and if you have not already visited I encourage you to come in, noting that any member of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland can become a member of the library for free.
Best wishes for November as we come to the end of “Ordinary Time” and look to Advent and the holiday season.

- Are you a parish in between priests?
- Are you planning community engagement or outreach?
- Are you needing to redo your Mission Action Plan?
- Do you need to re-vision your use of properties?
- Are you looking for ways to re-invigorate your parish?
- Are you facing conflict over an important issue?
- Is your faith community trying to address an important social need?
- Are you trying to integrate different groups of people?

If you’d like some tools to assist you with any of these scenarios, or more, this workshop is for you!
The one day event is open to all parishes, we encourage both laity and clergy to attend. It will be held at St Francis College Milton.
It will be facilitated by Vivienne Read and Julie Cunningham from Complexability Pty Ltd. The program has been designed to support parishes as they navigate their future ministry using tools derived from complexity theory.

Sort results by publication date or title etc. Note that some of these items might be electronic resources; please remember to log in to borrow these.
Just a reminder: any member of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ), whether that be as a parishioner or employed in some capacity, may become a member of the Roscoe Library at St Francis College at no charge. Click on register in the top right-hand corner.
Scanning/printing/copying within the Roscoe Library
To provide functionality that is in line with modern standards and expectations, the Roscoe Library is performing an upgrade on its scanning, printing and copying. This upgrade will allow self-service adding of credit to your printing/copying account and will allow us to be more flexible in the services that we offer.
Starting now, you will be able to sign up for a uniflow account. This account will be necessary for scanning and for printing or photocopying. Although there is a small cost to print or copy, we remain committed to not charging for scanning. The date when the new system will take effect is likely to be at the end of October.
For those who already have printing/copying accounts, once you have signed up to uniflow and the old printing service is shutdown, we will transfer your credits to the new service.
With the new system: you will be able to add credit to your uniflow account from your credit/debit card; you will be able to print in colour (higher cost); and you will be able to print A3 (higher cost).
So that you are ready to scan, print or copy when this new system begins, sign up now for the new service: click here and follow the prompts (this will take just a couple of minutes). To manage your account, for example to place more money for printing or copying, you will need to know which email address you used when registering, so please record this!
We look forward to offering this improved service.
