Intergenerational Worship Resources
Over the years there have been materials published to support intergenerational Sunday worship based on the lectionary readings each year. Since late 2020, MediaCom (Home - MediaCom Education) have started publishing a lectionary-based worship resource for congregations called Life, Learning & (Purposeful) Life, which is known as L3. The contributors come from across Australia and for an annual subscription fee the materials are sent out quarterly, either in print form or for digital download. Although no new editions of Whole People of God and Seasons of the Spirit have been published since 2023, some parishes might still have Year C resources from previous editions (e.g. 2021/2022 or 2018/2019) which could be adjusted for 2025 dates. The Living Stones resource books by Susan Sayers continue to be useful for lectionary-based children’s activities for different age groups.
Free Resources
There are several free resources available online to support children’s participation in church on Sundays, whether it simply be providing colouring-in or puzzle sheets, including a “Children’s Talk”, incorporating inter-generational activities within the main service or running a Sunday School programme alongside the Sunday Service.
Children's Sermons for Lectionary Year C | Sermons4Kids. The sermons4kids website provides suggested Kids’ Talks for based on lectionary readings, some of which would work in our Australian context. On each sermon page are puzzles based on the lectionary reading including a downloadable Worship Bulletin. This can be printed double sided onto an A4 piece of paper which can be folded into a four-page A5 booklet of puzzles with colouring in on the back page. The Word version allows for adding the name of the parish before printing or sending to families by email.
Year C (https://lessonplans.episcopalchurch.org/year-c/). The Episcopal Church (United States) has produced Sunday School Lesson Plans based on lectionary readings for several age groups including adults.
Virtual Church School (year C) includes resources originally produced in both English and French for the Anglican Church of Canada. These lectionary-based Sunday School lesson plans could be adapted for use during the church service.
Worshiping With Children is a blogsite set up by Carolyn Brown (author of Forbid Them Not (Year C) | Koorong). For each Sunday of the Revised Common Lectionary year, there is a post with commentary on each text from a child’s point of view and suggestions about ways to draw children into worship using those texts.
Sunday Liturgy for Children worksheets | SDC Resources. The Societas Doctrinæ Christianæ (SDC) provides a free downloadable simple single A4 worksheets, which would be more suitable for more anglo-catholic parishes as there are references to “mass”.
Parishes
Several parishes in this Diocese produce great resources to support Sunday worship:
Resources | Robina Anglican Church include Bible Study Reflections on the Sunday Readings.
St Johns Cathedral Brisbane - YouTube channel includes a weekly lectionary-based Children’s Talk.
