About Us
The Anglican Church Southern Queensland (ACSQ) is one of 23 Dioceses that form the Anglican Church of Australia. The Diocese works to care for and improve the life of the community through our network of parishes, schools, community services, ministry education, and social justice and advocacy. We operate 134 parishes, 14 schools, 19 Education and Care Services, a theological college and a significant number of residential community and social service programs.
St Francis (Theological) College is a member college of the University of Divinity. The University of Divinity delivers education and research in theology, philosophy, and spirituality and for over one hundred years has prepared its graduates for ministry, leadership and community service. The University operates across Australia and works in partnership with over thirty churches, religious orders and associated organisations in a unique ecumenical enterprise. St Francis College is one of four Anglican Colleges, and the only Queensland-based College of the University of Divinity. There are currently about 80 students enrolled through St Francis College in University of Divinity undergraduate, postgraduate and higher research degree courses.
About the Role
Reporting to the Principal, but working closely with the Academic Dean, this full-time role will play a critical role in developing and delivering units in Indigenous theologies within the award courses offered through the University of Divinity, and to create pathways for Indigenous leaders who wish to explore ministry, leadership, and service within the church.
Key Responsibilities
Engage in student-centred teaching and learning using best practice Indigenous andragogy, updating with professional development and leading curriculum review.
Collaborate with the Academic Dean and Registrar to manage all aspects of the Program professionally, including student support, and unit preparation and delivery.
Collaborate with key stakeholders in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to a professional and safe work environment.
Organise and participate in professional development opportunities for staff and faculty.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications
This is an identified position under government regulation. Candidates must show that they can meet the tripartite criteria for identification as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
Experience as a tertiary teacher and/or academic administrator
Holds, or is currently enrolled in, a doctorate in a recognised theological discipline
Has a recognised publishing record in Indigenous theologies
Is research active according to University of Divinity policies
Well-developed skills and experience in person-centred and Indigenous andragogy
Recognised contributor to national conversations on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander theology
Strong personal engagement skills, interpersonal sensitivity and demonstrated capacity to work in complex cultural environments with a diversity of people
High level verbal and written communication skills
Strong planning, organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team environment
Comfortable to work autonomously, self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to work well under pressure
Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality when dealing with sensitive issue
Mandatory Requirements
Satisfactory National Police Check
Holds a Blue Card (or equivalent), or willing to obtain one
