St Francis Day Celebration
Join us as we celebrate St Francis Day with a special Eucharist and community gathering at St Francis College on Wednesday, 7 October.
The celebration will begin with a Eucharist at 12.00pm, followed by a light lunch and an address from our guest speaker, The Rev’d Dr Matthew Beckmann OFM.
About The Rev’d Dr Matthew Beckmann OFM
Matthew Beckmann is a Franciscan friar, theologian, and historian whose teaching and research explore the rich relationship between theology and history. A medievalist by training, his work examines how historical events shape theological thought and how theology, in turn, influences the course of history. His particular interests include the theology and history of the Franciscan Order, concepts of salvation and redemption, and the ways theological ideas are communicated and received across communities and generations.
Matthew has also worked extensively in the area of Justice, Peace and the Integrity of Creation, and is a member of the University of Divinity’s Centre for Religion and Social Policy. His reflections on the Franciscan tradition offer timely insights into faithful living, social responsibility, and care for creation in the contemporary world.
All are welcome to join us as we honour the life and legacy of St Francis of Assisi, whose vision of simplicity, compassion, and love for all creation continues to inspire Christians around the world.
